ZANNI Productions was founded in 2015 by videographer and theater artist joy burklund. ZANNI is dedicated to creating rigorous, heart-led video documentation of the boldest work in live arts.
joy burklund, Founder & Lead Videographer
joy burklund (she/they) is a Philadelphia based video artist specializing in documentation and documentary video for performing artists and arts organizations. Since 2015, joy has documented over four hundred performances and events for organizations including Arena Stage, American Repertory Theater, The Public Theater, La Mama ETC, New York Theater Workshop, 59E59 Theaters, Bushwick Starr, Parsons Dance, ART NY, and All for One Theater. joy is resident videographer at The Exponential Festival, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Arena Stage and Ma-Yi Theatre Company, and has served as digital content producer at Musical Theatre Factory.
joy’s work has long focused on creating sustained partnerships with some of NYC’s boldest artists, especially those working towards social justice and representation. With this intention, she has developed video content in collaboration with Diana Oh ({my lingerie play}), Pioneers Go East Collective (Gemini Stars), Jomama Jones (BLACK LIGHT), Dan Fishback (Cheese on Bread), Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (Dael Orlandersmith’s Until the Flood).
joy’s documentary work includes PN1 (2022, in collaboration with Sarah Benson/Soho Rep), RENT 25 (2020, NYTW), and an untitled dance documentary featuring dance artists Mina Nishimura and Kota Yamazaki.
Adele Overbey, Videographer & Editor
Adele Overbey (She/Her) is a multidisciplinary-artist currently based on occupied Lenni Lenape land, also known as Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Brooklyn College in 2018 she spent time doing freelance work throughout brooklyn and the downtown NYC scene. In 2018 she was the lead editor of “Wham!” A Chilling coming of age short about making it to high school in one piece.” As well as the Cinematographer of “Jude” A short story about a woman who has lost love. Her main focus was narrative film and she also taught older artists how to edit and pivot their art online.
In 2019 she joined the Musical Theater Factory as a media intern and began to shift her work from narrative filmmaking to live events and documentation. While at the Factory she met joy burklund which started a their collaboration. Adele’s goal is to help underrepresented folks bring their art to the main stage through collaboration, conversations, and cinematography. As a documentarian, her frequent collaborators include New York Theatre Workshop, Arena Stage, 59E59 Theater, The Brick Theater, Ars Nova, The Tank, Long Wharf Theater, & The Theater Offensive. Adele also loves long walks in the park with her small dog Peanut, hosting parties, watching anime and long naps during the day.
